Friday Favorites

I know I’ve been a terrible, no good blogger lately, and I’ve had a week if you know what I mean, so I’m glad to be mentioning some of my recent favorites today!

Aren’t matching jammies the cutest? I never thought I would dress up my kids in matching anything, but it’s kind of hard not to love matching jammies. I got these toddler skeleton jammies from Old Navy and Porter is still wearing his because, well, they fit (and he’s growing like a weed so not much fits right now!) It looks like the baby version is still available, too, in case you want to order ahead for next year! I just ordered some Christmas ones from Hanna Andersson. (If you’re a first time customer, use the link to save 20%!)

I randomly came across these Pregnancy Problems Illustrations, and I about died. It’s perfect.

My good friend Lauren recently wrote this blog post called The Struggle Days in Parenting. It’s a must read!

Have you heard of The Bouqs? It’s an online flower company, but not just any online flower company. I recently used The Bouqs for both my mom and mother-in-law’s birthdays and the flowers they received were gorgeous (much better than traditional order off the internet flowers in my opinion.) Plus, you get free shipping (which is rare for online florists.) PLUS, if you order from that link, you’ll get one bouquet for free (so you’ll be able to send a pretty impressive bouquet for the price of one.) Lastly, the prices are awesome! I don’t send flowers often, but when I do, I always feel like the size in bouquet does not correlate with the price I paid. I swear The Bouqs will change how you feel about ordering flowers online.

Have you guys started your holiday shopping? I’ve slowly started, but I’m starting to panic that I need to kick it in high gear. I do most of my holiday shopping online these days, and while I’ve written about it before, I have to mention Ebates. Seriously, if you’re not on board already, sign. up. now. It’s my absolute favorite way to save money while shopping online. I swear it works and it’s not a gimmick! Since I’ve been a member, I’ve earned a total of $473.58 back!

Most of my favorite stores are on there. For example, shopping through Ebates earns you 2.0% cash back at Target, 6.0% cash back at JCPenney, 6.0% cash back at Ulta, 6.0% cash back at Groupon, 6.0% cash back at Nordstrom, and I recently discovered that even Etsy is on Ebates. I wish I would have known that because I buy a lot of gifts off of Etsy. I seriously always check Ebates before I shop anywhere online. It’s super easy, and you can still use coupon codes to save even more money.

Tomorrow we are heading to a friend’s for a Friendsgiving. I’m making the best (and embarrassingly easy) fall dessert: pumpkin dip. This is the recipe I use (though I don’t put it in a pumpkin.)  Whenever I bring it anywhere, people ask for the recipe. #winning

Have a great weekend, friends!

Lightning Strikes (and Some Favorites)

Well, a lot has happened since I last blogged when I posted Cayia’s 3 month pictures (and she’s turning 4 months this week–I can’t believe it!)

A week and a half ago our house was struck by lightning at 3:43 a.m. (what a way to wake up!) We started to smell an electrical burning smell and heat was emitting from our air vents even though our a/c was on. Needless to say, I enjoyed my cup of coffee while watching a team of firemen investigate my house and admired the light show that the three fire trucks were creating outside.

We have a few thousand dollars worth of damages that we’ll need to cover and then we’re crossing our fingers that our insurance is easy to work with and that they cover the rest.  We were without internet for about a  week, and we just got new garage door systems and a new dryer. I never knew how much I would miss a dryer until I was without one for a week! There’s still a long list of repairs, but we’re just thankful that it wasn’t worse.  In fact, the baby monitor camera that was hanging in Cayia’s room left a burn mark on the wall and took off some of the paint. It could have easily started a fire, so while all of this is a hassle to deal with, we know we should thanking our lucky stars.

Although it’s not Friday, I originally intended to post this on the Friday that our house was struck and since we just got our internet back up and running, here are a few of the things I’m loving lately (albeit a little lot late!)

A friend recently sent me this article called 24 Things You Should Never Say to a Pregnant or New Mom, and it made me laugh. #5 is the worst, especially when you go past your due date like I did with both babies.

I have been using this CoverGirl Super Sizer mascara lately, and twice now people have asked me if I’m wearing false lashes. I have naturally long lashes as it is, but this mascara gives it some added length and volume. I do not twirl it like it suggests (because I’m not that coordinated). I just apply it like I would any other mascara.

Even though it’s not super chilly out, Cayia’s hands and feet tend to get cold when we’re hanging out at home. I’ve been putting these adorable Luvable Friends booties on her lately, and not only can she not kick them off, but they automatically make any outfit look cuter. They’re super affordable, and I think I’m going to get another pair in a different color!

I recently bought this open front cardigan from Old Navy in the mushroom color and I’m obsessed. It’s going to be perfect for fall. I can’t wait for the weather to get a bit cooler so I can wear it with some skinnies and boots. Can you believe it’s almost October?!

Are you familiar with the Pigeon books? We have this set and Porter loves them. He chooses to read them every night before bed, and he has Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus memorized. It’s so adorable to hear him recite it. Since he loves them so much, they have a few other ones that I’m planning to buy him for Christmas.

And I’ll leave you with one of my favorite pictures to date. Porter’s face is just precious!

Friday Favorites

I am so glad it’s Friday and that the weekend is upon us. This has been my first full week back at school/work, and it’s been a rough one. I love teaching and I love my students, but it’s been a difficult transition.  I still feel like Cayia is so young, and it’s hard to leave her every day, even if I know she’s in good hands!

Anyway, here are some of my favorites lately.

Does anyone else watch The Blacklist? I can’t remember who suggested it to me, but David and I started watching it on Netflix a few weeks ago, and we. are. obsessed. Season 2 is not on Netflix, but we’re tempted to buy it because Season 3 starts in October. If you need a new show to watch, I highly recommend it.

I  know I wrote about coffee in my last Friday Favorites, but I recently bought these K-cups for my Keurig at school, and they are my new favorite. It’s perfect with a splash of vanilla creamer!

I’m pretty sure I had about three cups on the day I posted this selfie. I only got a few hours of sleep the night before because Cayia was up several times. #caffeinesavedtheday

I recently ordered from Boxed for the first time and I love it! If you don’t know what Boxed is, think of it as Costco without the membership.  Not everything is a good deal, but I found that pull-ups were much cheaper than at Target.  They also had a great deal on Annie’s mac-n-cheese which we are big fans of. If you use the code 7NSVI you can get $15.00 off your first order.  I think there is a limit to how many times the code can be used, though.

Cayia has had a cold for about two weeks now, so we temporarily moved her back into our room because she has been waking up more at night. We put her back in the Rock-n-Play which seems to have helped because of the slight elevation. I know she’s sleeping better than she would if she were in her crib flat on her back because she’s had so much drainage.  We’ve also been using these Vicks VapoPads which also seem to be helping!

Have you heard of these Put Me in the Story books? They are so adorable! I bought one for Porter last Christmas off of Groupon (the My Name is Not…one), but Porter has only recently been into it. He’s chosen to read it before bed the last few nights. I’m thinking of getting these Sesame Street versions for him next. P.S. Did you know that Groupon is on Ebates?  Shop through Ebates first and earn 6% back on Groupon. Plus, if you’re new to Ebates, you will get $10 free added to your account.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites

Things have been a little crazy around here. This summer/my maternity leave has absolutely flown by, and I can’t believe that I start school again so soon. I only have a few days left with my babies, so I need to cherish the rest of the time I have off with them!

Once school starts, I know I’ll be consuming a lot more coffee. I’m totally crushing on this thermal mug, and though it’s probably not true, I can’t help but to think it may make my early mornings a little more enjoyable.

Speaking of coffee, have you tried Target’s Archer Farms coffee? They have dozens of flavors, but this buttery caramel flavor is my favorite.

I have been on such a peanut butter/sweets kick lately.  This happened when I was nursing Porter, too. I swear I have more cravings while breastfeeding than I do when I’m actually pregnant. I made this 5 minute peanut butter pie a few weeks ago, and I fell in love with it. It’s so easy and tastes delicious.  I also am a huge fan of this peanut butter granola that I’ve been making since March.  I tweak this recipe a bit by adding some brown sugar and a few tablespoons of melted coconut oil to the mix, too.

As most of you know, we cloth diaper, and until recently, all of our cloth diapers were gender neutral or boy colors/prints. I recently bought the bumGenius diapers in Countess, Dazzle, and Patch (though Patch seems to be sold out right now), and I am so in love with them!

Does anyone else binge watch Fixer Upper? Chip is hilarious and I adore Joanna’s style. I wish she would come decorate my entire house. Most of our DVR is filled with Peppa Pig, Umi Zoomi, and Go, Diego, Go!, but I do have some Fixer Upper episodes saved as well. Whenever Porter scrolls past them while looking for his shows, he stops to say, “Mommy’s show!” I don’t watch much tv, so this is honestly probably one of the only shows he’s ever seen me watch.

I’ve been trying to drink more water lately, and I’ve been using these lids for my ball jars. For some reason it does help me drink more water (probably because they’re so cute!) If you have wide mouth jars, make sure you get the wide mouth version!

Lastly, I have been loving headbands for our baby girl. I recently bought a few headbands from Our Chic Littles, and I am so happy with them!  I hope to get some more styles/colors, soon. I really love this denim one! I couldn’t help but to put her in one for her 2 month picture! (I hope to post more 2 month pictures soon!)

That’s it for some random things I’ve been loving lately! Have a great weekend, friends!
